Most buyers go straight to a bank
Jersey mortgages are offered by a small number of island and Channel Islands lenders, and most borrowers apply to one directly. A broker searches across lenders for you; according to SPF, about a quarter of Jersey mortgages are arranged through a broker.
Mortgage advice is not yet a regulated activity
Jersey does not currently regulate mortgage advice or lending to individuals, beyond the supervision of banks as deposit-takers. Some brokers hold Jersey Financial Services Commission licences for the insurance or investment business they also do. The States adopted a consumer credit law in July 2025, which is due to bring lending and broking under the Commission’s supervision.
